The cover is very well made very well Its a woven material that is made to handle sun. Cover has a 1/4 cable that is sewn into the outside edging of cover where the cable moves as you tighten so slighty distributing and streeching the cover evenly over the pool.About the cable the straps have clamps that go onto cover grasping the cable all around the cover preventing and possible damage to the fabric as you tighten each strap as you tighten all the way around the pool. I tightened by hand then a come along type strap ( supplied with cover ) and works pretty good and tighten it up snug. I went with a 20 by 40 ft cover to fit 15 by 35 pool perfect fit 2.5 ft over hang all around.They provide a very heavy duty cement screw into cement spike with a yellow plastic cover to go over each spike and strap hold down.BUT.............. I didnt want to drill into my new cement pool walk aroundBut had a idea I wanted to try before considering the drilling and holes in my cement.I have 6 ft cement walkway around 3 sides of pool and a large covered screenroom. I took rounded tent pikes which i hammered in to grass on outside of the 3 cement walkway on the 3 sides of pool. To each spike I added strap which fit the round bracket on strap where other end has clamp to grab pool cover and tightened it fine, the tent stake was down 12 inch againt the cement walkway so all the back pressure was on the cement walkway allowing the strap to tighten up as in would if I drilled into cement.The screemroom side of pool I ran for the winter off every 6 by 6 post which posts holds up overhang and roof of screenroom . At base of eash post I rand pressure treated 2 by 4 and and have screwed 3 inch into the face of post throughtout on the 40 FT of posts to the 2 by 4 on post I fastened the straps on that side to 2 by 4s and tightened them up and they tightened up perfectly as well .The cover looks beautiful tight and streched out perfectly, I went with the light colored carpet that matches the cement and blends so cleanly over our pool .
